Meeting and communicating:

IE members can communicate and develop initial relationships with each other through a web-based bulletin board with a variety of forums to which they have access. It allows for people to post questions or information for the membership at large, and also to send private messages to individual members. Since The International Executives Organisation is specifically for people who are exploring other career opportunities at a reasonably senior level, most of the topics will be explicitly concerned with the issues related to this. And by capturing and using the accumulated knowledge and experience of the members, everyone benefits. E.g.

"I would like to talk to someone in the air travel industry to compare notes on transferable experience from the rail travel industry." Reply: "I could put you in touch with xxxx but my guess is he'd suggest you avoid the air industry right now because……"

"I am Swedish, and considering an offer which means moving my family to France. Does anyone have experience and insights they can share on the pro's and con's of such a move?" Reply: "I made a similar move several years ago. Call me on …if you would like."

"I and some former colleagues are putting together an MBI team for a £50million turnover capital goods company in the UK. We need an additional member of the team who will contribute strong marketing experience. Does anyone have any interest or suggestions?"

There are also regular gatherings where members can meet face to face. These include facilitated discussion as well as informal mingling. They are usually held in the evening, and currently they are arranged in locations to suit the members, mostly in London and other major European cities until the organisation grows beyond them. The common language for International Executives is English.

Advisory Services –

The initial membership fee covers 2 hours of individual consultancy advice on issues relating to career change. The time might be used, for example, to work on career and lifestyle choices, or to provide some initial support in the tools and techniques necessary to identify and secure opportunities, or to have the benefit of a focused sounding board when decisions need to be made. It is entirely flexible, to be used according to the member’s specific needs, and it can be increased by arrangement.

In England consultancy is mostly provided by the Executive Director of IE, Madeleine Stanford, and in other locations it is provided by well-qualified Associate Consultants. Madeleine is an executive search consultant, currently running the boutique search firm Stanford Lucerne, previously with Boyden International in Atlanta, GA, and with Korn/Ferry International as a Director of the London office. For 5 years she served with the leading UK Careers Consultancy, Sanders & Sidney (now Penna). Consequently she has in-depth understanding of how senior level recruitment happens, and of how people can best position themselves for success in moving forward with their lives and careers.

The members section of the website contains a considerable amount of valuable research information, including links to Executive Search firms, Business Schools, Legal and Accounting Directories, Consulting Companies, Regulatory and Advisory bodies, Professional and Trade Associations, Venture Capital firms.

One forum on the bulletin board is made available to the executive search community, major employers, and others seeking to recruit at senior level, so that they can post information on positions they seek to fill. The format preserves confidentiality for all sides.
